The Disillusioned

It has taken me two years and probably a dozen or more drafts, but finally, finally I have come up with a working beginning for my pet project "The Disillusioned." If I have ever spoken to you personally about my original fiction, this is one story I'm sure you've heard from me. I generally refer to it as "the story about the kids."

A quick synopsis: A rich and power hungry old man begins to "collect" a group of people together (generally by kidnapping or whatnot). It turns out that each of these people is gifted with a special talent. This talent can range anywhere from mind reading to super strength and speed. The old man's goal is to turn them into a super army and sell them to the government with the highest bidder.

Now that I finally have the plot working the way I want it to and the beginning figured out I think I can finally begin to write it! Woot! I wish it was closer to November, but since it isn't I guess I'll just have to come up with something different for NaNo this year. Oh well, time to get writing!

What's in a name?

For the deviant art writing group Jon and I belong to, there is a brand new theme of the week: "What's in a name?" and Jon has given me the best idea possible. I'm going to write an auto-biographical piece about my name and the struggles I have had with it. It should be fun!

I'm also working on the next chapter of "Failure," I finally have a good idea for what to do with it. Today is going to be a great writing day, I can feel it!

Writing, Writing, Writing

So, we achieved our goal of getting to 100 pages in Script Frenzy on Sunday evening. It's really nice to be able to say that we are done now and it only took us four days. The best thing about this is the fact that now we aren't completely focused on our script. I have free time to work on other things and believe me, I have.

At the end of this week I hope to have at least one chapter completely done for either "Failure" or "Our New Life." If Aiden is amenable, I may have both done and ready for editing. Of course, I also have the scene near the end of "Failure" that I'm still working on because honestly, I'm totally in love with it. It is making me want to write "Failure" quickly so I can get to that point in the story.

I also plan to do some editing on "Eyes on Fire" but I'm not too concerned about deadlines anymore. If I have to, I'll pay for a copy of my book to put on my shelf. I'm not sure yet if it's worth all the trouble I'm putting into it, but maybe my perspective isn't the best. I fought with those characters all November long and we still have a love/hate relationship going on. Though I admit, it's much more hate than love. If they ever see a bookstore it will be because my husband refuses to let me give them up.

I think that's it, but if I think of anything else that I forgot I'll update the blog again.

Sript Frenzy update and ff news

So, as of last night (only two days into Screnzy) Jon and I are at a comfortable 46 pages. I can't believe how fast we are cranking them out, it's just so easy! Our new goal is 100 pages by Sunday (tomorrow night) and possibly 300 by the end of the month. I know that it would only be another weeks worth of work to get to 300 but it really depends on how fast we get to the end of our outline and how much story we have left to tell. I think we could easily finish scripting out the entire comic this month.

In a bit of fan fiction news (hoping to get a smile out of the girls from Twilighted.net), I woke up yesterday morning with an idea for a scene in my head. I figured that I would get three, maybe four, pages out of it and have something nice to show my readers that I'm still writing. Of course, I didn't realize that Aiden must have been saving this idea for awhile, because when I stopped working on it last night it was at 9 pages and it's still not done. The good thing is that my muse is back in full force! The bad thing is that this scene takes place near the end of "Failure" so unless you want to be spoiled, you can't see it yet.

If however you are in the mood for spoilers, I will be posting this on Deviant Art. My writing group has the best theme ever going this month... "Fan fiction." I've decided that I'll post this "little" scene there and see how it does. If you are interested you can go and check it out. I'm not sure what I will be calling it yet, but I will let you all know when I do.
